In 1946, Charles Ammirato opened the doors of Bergen Fire Equipment & Service in Hackensack. It was a small shop with a big mission: give New Jersey families and businesses the straightforward fire protection they deserved.
His grandsons, Chris, John, and the late Richard Rodgers, grew up in the shop, working alongside Charles as apprentices. They learned the trade the way it should be learned: with their hands, one job at a time. When Charles stepped back, they took the reins.
Today, Bergen Fire is proudly run by the fourth generation of the family, joined by a team of skilled technicians. Every call gets the same care Charles gave his first customer, whether it's a single extinguisher recharge or a full suppression build-out.
